Back in 2001, Koichi Mashimo introduced his girls-with-guns trilogy to anime fans. With the studio Bee Train handling the animation and the incredible music score from the great Yuki Kajiura, the first entry in this trilogy is Noir.

Set in Paris, this action/adventure conspiracy thriller focuses on two main characters, Mireille Bouquet, an assassin for hire who comes from a Corsican crime family and Kirika Yuumura, a high school amnesiac whose skills as an assassin is as equal as Mirelle’s. Together they go on a pilgrimage to the past to uncover the mysterious connection between them. Not completely trusting each other, they must rely on each other with a shadowy organization who is attempting to kill them at every opportunity.

So, sit back, listen, and journey into Paris’ dark underworld of crime with hip hop as your musical companion.
